General Operative / Forklift Driver

General Operative / Forklift Driver

Location: Baldock, SG7 5DP
Salary: £13.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
Permanent | Full-time

My client, an established family-run business, is looking for a reliable and hardworking General Operative / Forklift Driver to join their team in Baldock.

This is a varied, hands-on position supporting both the manufacturing and delivery teams. The role will involve forklift operation, manual handling, assisting with deliveries, keeping work areas clean and organised, and learning to operate machinery used within the manufacturing process.

As a family-run business, they are looking for someone who wants to become a long-term member of the team, learn new skills and take pride in their work.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills within a manufacturing environment. Training will be provided on relevant machinery and processes, so previous experience on all of the equipment isn't necessary. What's important is having the right attitude, being willing to learn and being happy to get involved.

Due to the nature of the products being handled, applicants must be physically fit and comfortable with manual handling, including assisting with the movement of heavy stone worktops.

Due to the location of the site, candidates must hold a valid driving licence and have their own transport.

Duties Include:

• Operating a Counterbalance Forklift safely and efficiently
• Loading and unloading deliveries
• Supporting the delivery team as required
• Assisting with the movement and handling of stone worktops
• Supporting the manufacturing team with day-to-day production tasks
• Learning to operate manufacturing machinery and equipment
• General warehouse and factory duties
• Cleaning and maintaining work areas
• Keeping the workplace safe, tidy and organised
• Following all relevant health and safety procedures

Requirements:

• A valid, in-date Counterbalance Forklift licence is essential
• Previous forklift experience
• Full UK driving licence and own transport due to the location
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
• A practical, hands-on approach to work
• A genuine willingness to learn new skills
• Keen to be trained on manufacturing machinery and equipment
• Reliable with good timekeeping and attendance
• A team player who is happy to help wherever required
• Previous warehouse, manufacturing or production experience would be beneficial

What's on Offer:

• £13.00 per hour
• Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
• Permanent, full-time position
• Opportunity to join an established family-run business
• Company pension
• On-site parking
• Training on relevant machinery and manufacturing processes
• Opportunity to learn new practical skills
• Long-term development within the business

This role would suit someone who enjoys a physical and varied working environment and wants more than just a forklift driving position. It offers the opportunity to learn different areas of the manufacturing process, develop new skills and become part of a close-knit, family-run business.
