Benjamin Edwards is recruiting for a Management Accountant to join a progressive, values-led organisation in Scunthorpe.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone actively studying and ready to take the next step in their finance career, or a qualified‑by‑experience candidate looking for a broad and commercially focused role. You’ll take ownership of the monthly management accounts across several business entities, work closely with operational teams to understand performance, and provide meaningful financial information that supports better business decisions.

What’s on offer to the Management Accountant

  • 30 days holiday + bank holidays + your birthday off
  • Study Support
  • Generous pension and life assurance
  • Flexible and agile working options
  • Many company discounts available
  • Onsite parking
  • A role where you can develop your commercial finance experience

The role of the Management Accountant

Working closely with the Commercial Accountant, you will be responsible for producing accurate and timely financial information across several entities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing full monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, cash movements and supporting information
  • Producing an initial flash set of results shortly after month-end
  • Preparing and posting month-end journals including accruals, prepayments, payroll, stock, WIP, bad debt provisions and late invoice creditors
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Analysing monthly performance and providing insight to support management accounts commentary
  • Producing monthly project and contract reporting, covering monthly, year-to-date and lifetime performance
  • Working closely with operational teams to ensure income and costs are accurately allocated across contracts
  • Supporting monthly reforecasts and the annual budgeting process
  • Undertaking financial and performance analysis as required
  • Completing bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
  • Reconciling intra-group transactions
  • Assisting with year-end reporting packs and external audit requirements
  • Supporting debtor management alongside the Accounts Receivable team
  • Identifying opportunities to improve, streamline and automate finance processes
  • Getting involved in the testing and implementation of new finance systems and processes

The ideal candidate for the Management Accountant

ACCA/CIMA/ACA part qualified or qualified by experience, with a good understanding of key accounting principles fundamental to the duties and responsibilities of the role

Have practical experience producing monthly management accounts

Be confident preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations

Have strong analytical skills and be comfortable getting underneath the numbers

Be able to communicate financial information effectively with finance and non‑finance stakeholders

Be organised and able to manage competing priorities and tight month‑end deadlines

Have good finance systems and IT skills

Enjoy improving processes rather than simply accepting “the way things have always been done”

This could particularly suit an Assistant Management Accountant actively studying and looking to step up, or a Management Accountant who enjoys a broad, hands‑on role with plenty of interaction across the wider business.
