Personal Assistant

I am a lady living at home with my husband in Peebles looking for some support at home after suffering a stroke. I am looking for someone to join my small team of Personal Assistants. I am mobile and try to be as independent as possible but do need some support with my personal care in the morning and evening.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Morning - 1 hour around 8:45/9am

• Please come in to support me with either having a wash or a shower.

• I would like to do as much for myself as possible but due to my left sided weakness, do need support with certain tasks but can direct you as to when I need help.

• Please ensure I am thoroughly dried before supporting me into clean clothes for the day ahead.

• Please use a strengths based approach and encourage and enable me to take on as much of my personal care routine as possible.

• Once ready, please supervise my transfer down the stairs.

• Finally, please ensure I am settled and have everything I need to hand, for the day ahead.

Evening - 30 minutes around 7:45pm

• Please come in to support me with my evening routine and getting ready for bed.

• Please supervise my transfer upstairs to either the bathroom or the bedroom.

• Please help me to undress and get into my nightwear again, using a strengths based approach and encouraging and enabling me to take on as much of my personal care routine as possible.

• Finally, please ensure I have everything I need to hand.

Personal attributes

• Kind, with a genuine caring and empathetic nature.

• Someone who is patient and will allow me the time to do as much for myself as possible.

• Someone who is reliable, honest and trustworthy.

Hours of work

• Visits as above with a degree of flexibility around timings.

• Right now I am looking for someone every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings.

• Along with Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

The terms

• £18.00 per hour.

• 5.6 weeks annual leave, calculated on a pro-rata basis.

• PVG required.
