Senior Unscheduled Care /Mental Health Assessment Nurse - Mental Health Services

Are you a passionate and experienced Mental Health Nurse looking to make a real difference for people experiencing mental health crisis? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Unscheduled Care/Mental Health Assessment Nurse to join our dedicated Unscheduled Care Team. Working across a fast-paced and rewarding service, you will provide specialist assessment, intervention and support for individuals with complex mental health, physical and social care needs. You will play a key leadership role within a multidisciplinary team, helping to deliver responsive, person-centred care across a variety of community and hospital settings. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

• Full-time, Permanent
• You will be based at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
• Working Pattern: 24hr rotational

Key responsibilities:

• Undertake comprehensive mental health assessments and develop person-centred care plans for individuals presenting in crisis
• Provide specialist mental health advice and support to multidisciplinary teams, emergency departments and hospital staff
• Deliver evidence-based interventions and support individuals through periods of acute mental health distress
• Contribute to risk assessment, risk management and decision-making regarding treatment pathways and hospital admissions
• Support, supervise and provide leadership to junior nursing staff, students and members of the wider team
• Liaise effectively with statutory, voluntary and emergency service partners to ensure coordinated patient care
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, audit activities and ongoing professional education

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration
• Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience
• Significant experience managing individuals with complex mental health needs within a mental health setting
• Specialist knowledge of mental health assessment, risk assessment, risk management and recovery-focused practice
• Evidence of leadership experience including supervision, mentorship and workload management of staff
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build therapeutic relationships in challenging situations
• Evidence of ongoing professional development with strong knowledge of relevant legislation, governance frameworks and digital healthcare systems
