As a WCA Functional Assessor, you'll use your clinical knowledge, assessment skills and professional judgement to understand how a person's health conditions affect their functional ability and capacity for work.

You'll speak with people through telephone, video and face-to-face assessments, review medical evidence and produce clear, objective reports based on your findings.

It's a role where your clinical experience really matters — but you're no longer providing hands-on care.

What will you actually do? You'll:

Carry out structured WCA assessments
Explore how physical and mental health conditions affect functional ability
Review medical evidence and supporting information
Use clinical reasoning to reach evidence‑based conclusions
Produce accurate and detailed reports
Manage your caseload while maintaining quality and accuracy

There is no hands‑on care and you won't be diagnosing or treating patients. Your role is to gather the relevant information, assess the functional impact and provide an objective report. The DWP makes the final decision.

We're looking for:

Registered Nurses
Physiotherapists
Occupational Therapists

You'll need:

Active NMC or HCPC registration
At least 12 months' post‑registration clinical experience
Strong communication and report‑writing skills
Good IT skills
Strong clinical reasoning and professional judgement
Full UK Right to Work
