Accountant (Part-Time)

We're currently recruiting an Accountant for an established accountancy practice based in Market Harborough. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with practice experience to join a small, friendly team and take ownership of their own client portfolio.

• £34,000 - £38,000 (pro-rata)
• 25 hours per week Monday to Friday
• 20 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro-rata)

Duties and responsibilities:

• Preparation of year-end statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns using cloud-based MTD-compliant software
• Completion of personal and corporation tax work
• Bookkeeping tasks including posting transactions, maintaining ledgers and completing bank reconciliations
• Gathering client records, following up on missing information and resolving basic queries
• Maintaining accurate working papers and ensuring deadlines are met

Required skills and experience:

• Minimum Level 3 AAT qualification
• Experience within an accountancy practice in a similar role
• Good understanding of bookkeeping principles and UK accounting and tax requirements
• Familiarity with cloud accounting platforms such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to work to deadlines
• Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility
