As a Yard Operative, you'll play a vital role in the day-to-day running of the yard. Here's what the job involves:
Helping customers find what they need - offering friendly, practical advice and sharing your knowledge of the products
Handling deliveries - checking in goods, storing them safely and keeping everything organised
Loading and unloading vehicles - working closely with the branch and driving teams to keep everything moving
Looking after the yard - keeping it safe, tidy and secure for the customers and colleagues
What you'll bring:
Valid Forklift Counterballance RTITB licence with the relevant experience
Customer Service Skills: You will interact directly with trade and retail customers, helping them locate materials and offering friendly, practical product advice.
Physical Fitness: The role is physically demanding. You must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and doing heavy lifting.
Basic Literacy & Numeracy: Required for checking off incoming delivery notes, identifying stock anomalies, and accurately picking customer orders.
Health & Safety Conscious: You must have a strict awareness of safety procedures to safely operate FLT around foot traffic and vehicles in a busy yard environment.
