Clark Wood is working with a large, highly regarded regional practice seeking an experienced Trusts Senior to join its growing Private Client Tax team in Newcastle.

This is an excellent opportunity to manage a portfolio of trusts, estates and high-net-worth individuals, while developing your technical and advisory skills across a broad range of private client matters.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of trusts and estates, acting as a key contact for clients, trustees, executors and intermediaries.
• Preparing trust and estate accounts, tax returns, inheritance tax forms and related calculations.
• Advising on trust administration, distributions, tax payments and trust wind-ups.
• Assisting with succession, estate planning and other private client advisory projects.
• Liaising with HMRC on compliance matters and enquiries.
• Identifying tax planning opportunities and escalating these where appropriate.
• Obtaining and reviewing information from clients and third parties.
• Supporting client onboarding and ensuring appropriate risk and compliance procedures are followed.
• Keeping up to date with changes in trust and estate legislation and HMRC practice.
• Identifying opportunities to improve internal processes and supporting implementation of changes.

About You

You will ideally have:

• AAT, ATT or CTA qualification/part-qualification, or equivalent experience.
• At least two years' practical experience in Trusts & Estates tax compliance.
• Experience gained within an accountancy or legal practice.
• Knowledge of Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Income Tax as they apply to trusts and estates.
• An understanding of Trust Registration Service (TRS) requirements.
• Strong client relationship, communication and organisational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• A proactive, commercial approach to identifying issues and opportunities.
