THE ROLE

As Interim Assistant Accountant, you will support the finance team across a broad range of transactional and accounting activities. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and previous experience working with Sage.

• Maintain daybooks and ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.
• Process purchase ledger and sales ledger transactions.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end accounting processes.
• Prepare journals and support the maintenance of accurate financial data.
• Support reporting requirements and finance administration tasks.
• Ensure data integrity within Sage.
• Work closely with the wider team to support day-to-day finance operations.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are seeking a proactive and reliable finance professional who can quickly integrate into the team and contribute from day one.

Mandatory

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant, or similar finance role.
• Strong working knowledge of Sage.
• Experience maintaining daybooks and processing financial transactions.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Availability to commit to a minimum three-month contract.
• Ability to work onsite five days per week.

Preferred

• Experience supporting month-end processes.
• Strong reconciliation skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience working within a fast-paced commercial environment.
• A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

ON OFFER

• Salary of £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (pro rata).
• Minimum 6-month contract with potential for extension.
• Fully onsite role based in the West Edinburgh area.
• 40-hour working week.
