£16.00 per hour | Monday to Friday | 7:00am-3:30pm

Houston & Hawkes is looking for an experienced Sandwich Chef to join our kitchen team, taking responsibility for producing a fresh, varied and consistently high-quality grab-and-go offer.

You’ll be preparing sandwiches, wraps, baguettes, rolls and other freshly made grab-and-go items each day, working efficiently while maintaining excellent standards of quality, presentation and food safety.

This is a hands‑on role for someone who is quick, organised and consistent. You'll understand how to manage volume without compromising on quality, keep your section exceptionally well organised and ensure the counters are stocked with fresh, appealing food ready for service.

THE ROLE

• Prepare fresh sandwiches, wraps, baguettes, rolls and other grab-and-go products each day.
• Produce food efficiently and consistently to meet daily volumes and service requirements.
• Ensure products are well filled, neatly finished and presented to a high standard.
• Follow recipes, portion controls and production requirements accurately.
• Label, date and store products correctly, with particular attention to allergens.
• Monitor stock and ingredients throughout production and communicate requirements to the wider kitchen team.
• Maintain a clean, organised and efficient preparation area.
• Minimise waste through careful preparation, stock rotation and portion control.
• Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and allergen standards at all times.
• Support the wider kitchen operation when required.

ABOUT YOU

• Previous experience in sandwich production, grab-and-go, deli, food production or a similar kitchen environment.
• Confident preparing fresh food in volume while maintaining consistency and presentation.
• Fast, organised and comfortable working to daily production requirements.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and allergen awareness.
• Excellent attention to detail, particularly around labelling, ingredients and presentation.
• Reliable, positive and happy working as part of a busy kitchen team.
• Someone who takes pride in making simple, fresh food exceptionally well.
