HOURS:20 per week, term time only plus all inset days

About the Role

As a Catering Assistant, you will be an essential part of the Central Services team, based within one of our school kitchens. Your role is varied and fast-paced, ranging from preparing and cooking hot and cold food to serving students with a smile. You will work to high standards, following specific recipes and ensuring that the kitchen remains spotless and compliant with safety regulations. Whether it’s the daily lunch rush or a special theme day, your positive, can-do attitude will help ensure a smooth and enjoyable dining experience for everyone.

Responsibilities

• Food Production & Service: Prepare, cook (using methods such as grilling and frying), and serve a variety of hot and cold menu items—including for special events—ensuring consistency with Trust recipes and standards.
• Hygiene & Safety: Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness in line with Food Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations, completing all necessary cleaning schedules, safety checks, and documentation to pass audits.
• Customer Experience: Provide a friendly, positive service to pupils, staff, and visitors, ensuring dietary requests are facilitated, and the service environment is welcoming.
• Operational Support: Assist with stock control, inventory checks, and delivery monitoring to minimise waste, while strictly adhering to kitchen Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
