Graduate Jobs - Cover Supervisor - Secondary School, Wakefield

Thinking about a career in teaching but not quite ready to commit to teacher training? This could be the perfect next step.

We're working with a well-regarded secondary school in Wakefield that is looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor. This role is particularly suited to graduates who want to gain first-hand classroom experience, develop their confidence working with young people, and explore whether teaching is the right long-term career path.

You'll step into lessons when teachers are absent, ensuring students remain on task and engaged with the work that's been set. No previous teaching experience is required, but you'll need strong communication skills, confidence in front of a group, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.

The Role

• Deliver pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a productive learning environment
• Support students with their learning and engagement
• Provide feedback to teaching staff on lesson outcomes
• Gain valuable experience across Key Stages 3 and 4

We're Looking For

• Graduates considering a future career in teaching, education, or youth work
• Confident communicators who can lead a classroom effectively
• Individuals who can think on their feet and remain calm under pressure
• Positive role models with a genuine interest in supporting young people
• Previous experience working with children or young people is beneficial but not essential

What's on Offer?

• Valuable classroom experience in a supportive secondary school
• An excellent opportunity to explore teaching before committing to training
• Ongoing support from a specialist education recruitment consultant
• Potential pathways into teacher training and long-term school-based roles
• Competitive daily rates
