Fine Art Porter / Driver’s Mate

Auctionet is a marketplace where auction houses from Sweden, Great Britain, Finland, Spain, Germany, and Denmark sell furniture, art, design objects, collectibles, and much more. We are now looking for a Fine Art Porter / Driver’s Mate who wants to be part of our team and contribute to the safe, professional handling and transport of world-class art and design.

About the Role

We offer a fantastic entry-point into the world of art logistics and auction services. As a Porter, you will be the “second pair of hands” essential to our operations, working alongside our Lead Drivers to ensure every item is moved with precision and care. We are looking for someone eager to learn the specialized techniques of high-end removals and fine art transit.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisted Handling: Working in tandem with the Lead Driver to safely load, unload, and manoeuvre heavy or delicate items (e.g., large canvases, marble sculptures, mid-century furniture).
• Expert Packing: Learning and applying specialist "soft-wrapping" and crating techniques to protect items against transit damage.
• On-Site Support: Navigating London’s galleries and private residences, providing a polite and helpful presence to our clients.
• Vehicle Support: Assisting the driver with navigation and ensuring the 3.5T Luton van is loaded efficiently and securely.

This role is based in Feltham, Greater London.

About the Team

You will be part of our tight-knit UK logistics team. This is a collaborative environment where mentorship is key—you’ll be working directly with experienced handlers who are happy to share their expertise. While we handle objects that are hundreds of years old, our team culture is modern, forward-thinking, and deeply committed to Auctionet’s global mission.

About You

You’re someone who’s energetic, highly observant, and physically capable. You don’t just "move boxes"—you understand that every item has a story and a value that requires careful attention. You are a team player who is punctual and ready to represent Auctionet with a smile.

To succeed in this role, we think you have:

• Physical Strength: Experience with heavy lifting and a comfortable "hands-on" approach to manual work.
• A Professional Demeanour: You are discreet and personable , able to maintain a high level of service when entering high-end galleries or private homes.
• Adaptability: You’re comfortable with the varied nature of the job, from long drives to technical packing challenges.
• Attention to Detail: You can follow instructions precisely to ensure the safety of both the items and your colleagues.

Bonus and not mandatory:

• Previous experience in removals, warehousing, or logistics.
• A valid UK driving license (even if not driving the Luton, it helps the team!).
• An interest in antiques, interior design, or the auction industry.

Our Recruitment Process

We have a straightforward process without unpleasant surprises. We'll start off with a short phone interview and greet just to get a feeling if we could be right for each other or not. We then have a meeting where we talk about you, the role, and Auctionet. We may also ask you to join us for a brief practical trial to see your handling skills in action.

Who We Are

Auctionet was founded in 2011 by a team of people with unique experience of online auctions. Read more about Auctionet here.

In 2021 Auctionet acquired the auction house Stockholms Auktionsverk, and we are now by far the largest auction marketplace in the Nordics, and one of the larger auction marketplaces in the world. With this acquisition, Auctionet owns and operates both the oldest auction house in the world (1674) and the second oldest (1681), which means we have been working with sustainability for 350(!) years.

Join us in our vision to make valued objects accessible for everyone, from everywhere!
