An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Private Client Legal Secretary to join a well-established and highly regarded law firm in Exeter.

Working within a large and busy Private Client department, you will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to fee earners handling a broad range of matters for private individuals, including high-net-worth clients, farmers and landowners.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Legal Secretary with strong audio typing and organisational skills who enjoys being part of a collaborative team and providing a high standard of support.

The Role

As Private Client Legal Secretary, you will provide day-to-day secretarial support across the department, helping fee earners manage busy workloads and ensuring clients receive a professional and efficient service.

Responsibilities will include:

• Audio typing and document production using digital dictation
• Providing secretarial support to Private Client fee earners
• Managing electronic diaries, appointments and schedules
• Preparing correspondence and legal documentation accurately and efficiently
• Using case management systems to maintain files and information
• Assisting other members of the department with typing and administrative support when required
• Communicating professionally with clients and colleagues
• Providing occasional lunchtime and absence cover for Reception
• Managing changing priorities and ensuring deadlines are met
• Providing proactive administrative support across the wider Private Client team

About You

Previous legal secretarial experience is essential for this position. Previous experience within Private Client, Wills, Probate, Trusts or Estate Administration would be particularly advantageous, although experienced Legal Secretaries from other practice areas are also encouraged to apply.

You will ideally have:

• Strong audio typing and secretarial skills
• Previous experience using digital dictation
• Experience using legal case management software
• Excellent Microsoft Word and Outlook skills, with a good working knowledge of Excel
• Strong organisational and diary management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
• The ability to manage a busy workload and changing priorities
• A proactive, flexible and team-focused approach
