Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Numeracy Intervention Tutor for secondary schools across Sunderland, with positions available immediately. This is a targeted support role focused specifically on students who are falling behind in Maths — working with them on a 1:1 and small group basis to close gaps, rebuild confidence, and give them a better chance of achieving meaningful outcomes at KS4.

It is a role that suits someone with a strong Maths background who enjoys the close, focused nature of intervention work over whole-class teaching. Whether you're a Maths graduate, an experienced TA with a numeracy specialism, or a teacher looking for something different, this is worth considering.

What the role involves:

Delivering structured numeracy interventions on a 1:1 and small group basis
Identifying gaps in student understanding and adapting sessions accordingly
Tracking and monitoring student progress and feeding back to class teachers
Supporting students across KS3 and KS4 who are working below age-related expectations
Liaising with the Maths department and SENCO to ensure a joined-up approach
Upholding safeguarding responsibilities at all times

What We're looking for:

A strong Maths background — a degree, teaching experience, or a numeracy-focused support qualification
Experience delivering interventions or tutoring in a school setting is desirable
Patient, methodical, and confident working with students who find Maths challenging
Ability to make Maths accessible and rebuild student confidence in the subject
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
