KHR Recruitment Specialists are working with a well-established transport and logistics business based in Gillingham, who are looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join their in-house workshop team.
Key responsibilities
Carrying out routine servicing and preventative maintenance
Completing PMI (Preventative Maintenance Inspection) work
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults
Carrying out mechanical repairs and component replacements
Electrical fault finding, repairs and diagnostics
Working on braking, suspension, steering and transmission systems
Carrying out inspections and identifying potential faults
Maintaining and repairing vehicle engines and associated components
Using diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults
Preparing vehicles for MOT and ensuring roadworthiness
Maintaining accurate maintenance and repair records
Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures
Candidate Profile
NVQ Level 3 in HGV Maintenance & Servicing/Repair or equivalent
Previous experience as an HGV Technician or Mechanic
Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
Experience servicing and maintaining HGVs
Experience carrying out PMI work
Experience working on DAF and/or Mercedes vehicles would be advantageous
A proactive approach and strong attention to detail
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
A Class 1 or Class 2 HGV licence would be beneficial but is not essential
