We’re Hiring: Relief Security Officer!

Hours: 36 hours per week: Working days, nights & weekends

Location: Hertfordshire and Essex: Hatfield, Harlow, Basildon, Canvey Islands, Chelmsford, Southend-on-Sea

Pay: £13.50 per hour

A Relief Security Officer is responsible for providing security services across multiple sites within a defined geographical area, ensuring the safety of people, property, and assets in line with site-specific requirements and assignment instructions. The role requires delivering a high standard of customer service while consistently demonstrating the organisation’s core values, including integrity, vigilance, and helpfulness.

Responsibilities

• Prevent and deter unauthorised access to site. Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms and CTV as appropriate
• Conduct external and internal security patrols as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Carry out routine tests of security equipment where appropriate
• Manage keys and perform locking and unlocking duties as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Maintain all logbooks and records as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Issue visitor/contractor passes in accordance with the Assignment Instructions
• To provide support, guidance and information to all staff, visitors and contractors whilst ensuring safeguarding of the premises

Qualifications

• A valid SIA licence
• Driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential
• Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be British nationals and eligible to meet the necessary security requirements
• Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends
• The right to work in the UK, with a 5-year checkable history
• Physically fit and capable of long periods of standing and walking
• Able to multitask effectively. E.g. CCTV monitoring, patrols, incident response, and report writing
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to follow procedures and company policies
• Honest, trustworthy, and acts with integrity
• Great decision-making skills in challenging situations
• Strong communication skills in English—both written and spoken
