About the Role

We are currently recruiting reliable, practical, and proactive School Caretakers to join our bank team, providing short and long-term cover across primary and secondary schools in Mansfield.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine site inspections to ensure the school remains safe, secure, and well-maintained.
• Complete basic maintenance, repairs, and general DIY tasks across school buildings and grounds.
• Open and lock school premises as required.
• Ensure classrooms, halls, and shared areas are clean, tidy, and ready for daily use.
• Set up rooms, move furniture, and prepare spaces for school events and activities.
• Monitor heating, lighting, alarms, and other site systems where required.
• Maintain external areas, including entrances, pathways, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces.
• Report maintenance issues, hazards, vandalism, or security concerns promptly.
• Work in line with all health and safety procedures, safeguarding requirements, and school policies.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Supervisor, Site Assistant, Maintenance Operative, Facilities Assistant, or in a similar role is desirable.
• Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
• Good awareness of health and safety practices.
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.
