Cover Supervisor / Cover Teacher

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to progress and take responsibility for leading a classroom?

Are you considering a career in teaching and looking for hands-on school experience before taking your next step?

Are you an overseas-trained teacher looking to gain valuable experience in English secondary schools and strengthen your knowledge of the UK education system?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with supportive secondary schools across Bristol who are looking to appoint confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors. Working as a Cover Supervisor gives you the opportunity to experience different classrooms, subjects and year groups, while developing the practical skills, confidence and school-based experience that can be invaluable when progressing towards a career in teaching.

The schools are looking for Cover Supervisors to work on a full-time basis from September, delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher and ensuring students remain engaged with their learning. You will manage classroom behaviour, provide guidance to students and create a positive learning environment, giving you valuable experience of leading a whole class and developing the skills schools look for in future teaching staff.

The successful Cover Supervisor will have:

• Previous experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally within a school or educational setting
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Confidence leading a classroom and delivering pre-planned lessons across different subjects
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with students and school staff
• A proactive, adaptable approach and genuine enthusiasm for working with young people

In return for the above you can expect to receive:

• Valuable hands-on experience leading classes within English secondary schools
• The opportunity to develop classroom management, behaviour management and lesson delivery skills
• Experience across different subjects and year groups to strengthen your CV and support future teacher training applications
• CPD Courses and certificates as part of the My-Progression channel to support your professional development
• A dedicated team of consultants available 24/7 to support you throughout your placements
• Market leading rates of pay and access to the TeacherActive Referral Scheme - Receive up to £100 when you refer a friend

Our staff are paid on a PAYE basis, so you can rest assured that you’re paying the right level of TAX and National Insurance and there’s no messing around with admin charges coming out of your hard earned cash.

If you are an experienced Teaching Assistant ready for more responsibility, an aspiring teacher wanting meaningful classroom experience, or an overseas-trained teacher looking to build experience within English schools, this Cover Supervisor role could be an excellent next step.
