RWS Global is the world leader in groundbreaking live moments across entertainment and sports, creating customized guest experiences spanning theatrical productions, live events, immersive destinations, multimedia, consumer products and more.
Reporting to the Entertainment Technical Manager, the Entertainment Technician will support the Entertainment Technical team in delivering the technical needs of the entertainment programme on board to the highest industry standards. The team consists of 3 Senior Technicians, a Broadcast Manager and 5 Entertainment Technicians, and works alongside the Entertainment department which includes hosts, cast members, children’s host team, musical director and resident musicians. The department is directed and coordinated by the Cruise Director.
As a member of the Entertainment Technical team, you will set up live bands, musicians and technical equipment around the ship’s venues. Depending on the vessel, you may operate sound and lighting gear in a single venue or ship‑wide across multiple venues and lounges. You will assist with the production shows in the main theatre, including backstage work, building and striking stage scenery, and, on certain vessels, operating Follow Spot for production shows.
You will also hold responsibility for emergency procedures, guest mustering and drills, with training received both prior to joining and regularly on board. You represent RWS Global and Marella Cruises, acting safely, responsibly and professionally at all times.
The Entertainment Technician should have at least 2 years of relevant industry qualifications in sound, lighting, stage management or equivalent relevant work experience. Experience working in the cruise industry and/or live performance venues (concert, theatre, comedy) is desirable, as is previous sea‑going experience in a similar role. Knowledge of health & safety procedures within the production environment is required.
