Tax Investigations Manager

I'm working with a highly regarded UK accountancy and advisory firm that is continuing to strengthen its specialist tax offering and is looking to appoint an experienced Tax Investigations Manager .

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond routine compliance and take ownership of complex, high-value HMRC investigations and tax disputes .

The Role

Tax Investigations Manager

Yorkshire | Hybrid | £60,000-£80,000 + benefits

You'll manage your own portfolio of investigations, working closely with clients, HMRC and senior members of the tax team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing complex HMRC enquiries and investigations
• Handling COP8, COP9 and WDF matters
• Advising individuals, owner-managed businesses and corporate clients
• Managing voluntary disclosures and settlement negotiations
• Preparing technical submissions and responses to HMRC
• Working directly with HMRC case officers
• Identifying technical and commercial risks for clients
• Supporting more junior members of the team
• Developing strong, long-term client relationships

What We're Looking For

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong experience within Tax Investigations / Tax Disputes
• Proven experience managing HMRC enquiries independently
• COP8 and/or COP9 experience
• Strong technical knowledge across personal and/or business taxation
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills
• Experience negotiating with HMRC
• Practice experience within an accountancy, advisory or specialist tax environment

Ex-HMRC experience would be advantageous but isn't essential. CTA or another relevant professional qualification is desirable.
