Interim Finance Manager: 6-Month Contract | Gloucester

Location: Gloucester (hybrid, 3 days on site)

Contract: 6 months, with potential for extension

Rate: £375 Per Day

The opportunity

Our client is a fast-growing manufacturing business based in Gloucester. Rapid expansion has increased the demand on the finance function, and they are looking for an experienced Interim Finance Manager to take ownership of the monthly reporting cycle, strengthen financial controls, and support the leadership team through the next phase of growth.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can step in quickly, build credibility with senior stakeholders, and deliver from week one.

Key responsibilities

• Own the month-end close process, including management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
• Lead and develop a small finance team, providing day-to-day guidance and support
• Produce accurate, insightful reporting for the Board and senior management, covering margin analysis, cost performance and KPIs
• Oversee inventory valuation, standard costing and cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
• Strengthen internal controls and improve finance processes as the business scales
• Liaise with external auditors and manage statutory accounts and VAT compliance
• Contribute to ad-hoc projects, including system improvements and business cases for investment

About you

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Proven experience as a Finance Manager or Senior Financial Accountant, ideally within manufacturing or another product-based business
• Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory
• Confident in managing month-end and presenting numbers to non-finance stakeholders
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment, with a pragmatic, can-do approach
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
• Available at short notice, which is a real advantage.
