Commercial, Technology & Data Partner | National Opportunity

About the Firm

AI, cloud infrastructure, digital transformation and the increasing commercial value of data are changing the contracts businesses negotiate and the risks they need their lawyers to anticipate.

Our client sits at the forefront of this evolving landscape. Its sizeable Technology & Data group works with major organisations and technology businesses on commercial arrangements, strategic sourcing, technology transactions, outsourcing, digital projects and data-related matters. The breadth of the offering extends from established IT infrastructure and software agreements through to emerging technologies and new digital business models.

An opening has arisen for a Partner who can bring an established commercial, technology or data-focused offering to a firm with considerable capability in this space.

The Opportunity

• Negotiate strategically important commercial and technology agreements for sophisticated businesses and technology providers.
• Advise on outsourcing, sourcing and technology-enabled projects, from initial contracting through implementation, change and renegotiation.
• Handle agreements involving software, SaaS, cloud services, licensing and other technology products and solutions.
• Guide businesses through digital transformation programmes and major technology implementations.
• Advise on the commercial implications of AI, automation and other emerging technologies where these fall within your area of expertise.
• Combine contractual advice with data and privacy considerations where technology products, services and information flows intersect.
• Assist businesses with complex supplier, procurement and commercial contracting strategies.
• Draw together specialists from corporate, IP, regulatory, financial services, disputes and other disciplines when projects require broader legal input.
• Generate fresh instructions through your existing relationships while extending your reach through the firm's technology-focused client base and European connections.

The Ideal Candidate

• A Partner specialising in commercial contracts, technology transactions, data or a closely related discipline.
• Significant experience negotiating complex technology and commercial arrangements.
• A client following and demonstrable record of winning work within your chosen area.
• Expertise in areas such as outsourcing, strategic sourcing, SaaS, cloud contracting, software licensing, digital transformation or data-driven projects.
• A practical understanding of the commercial and operational issues behind major technology arrangements.
• Comfortable advising both customers and suppliers on sophisticated contractual structures.
• An awareness of the rapidly changing legal environment surrounding technology, data and digital products.
• Credibility with organisations operating in technology-intensive and highly regulated markets.

What’s on Offer

• A compelling remuneration proposition recognising your market credentials, relationships and contribution.
• A place within one of the larger Technology & Data groups operating across the UK and Europe.
• Work at the intersection of commercial contracting, technology, data and digital innovation.
• Exposure to projects spanning AI, cloud, SaaS, outsourcing, digital transformation and other rapidly evolving technologies.
• A varied client landscape encompassing major organisations, technology businesses and companies undertaking significant digital change.
• Connections across Europe, China and Silicon Valley, providing additional reach for technology businesses operating internationally.
• The scope to carve out and advance your own specialism within a broad technology and data offering rather than fitting into a narrowly defined remit.
