Operational Safeguarding Lead

About Us

Looe Community Academy is a small but vibrant 11-16 secondary school situated on the breathtaking south-east coast of Cornwall. Under dynamic leadership, we're entering an exciting new era, united by a clear moral purpose: to provide the very best education for every student in our care.

Our school community is built on the values of Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, and Kindness. These aren't just words on a wall — they are at the heart of everything we do, guiding our culture, relationships, and expectations.

We believe that keeping our students safe is the foundation everything else is built on, and there's no better place to lead that work than here.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operational Safeguarding Lead to join our team and take daily operational primacy for safeguarding and child protection across the school. Reporting to the DSL, you will manage referrals and reporting, oversee online safety and filtering and monitoring systems, and take part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings. You will support the review and implementation of our safeguarding strategies, policies and procedures, advise and support staff on child welfare and safeguarding matters, and deputise for the DSL as needed, with other Trust DSLs on hand for advice and guidance.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is calm under pressure, meticulous with records, and genuinely committed to building trusted relationships with children, families and staff.

Why Join Us?

• A stunning coastal location — work just minutes from the beach in a town celebrated for its natural beauty.
• A school on the rise — be part of something special as we build a brighter future for our students.
• A supportive and friendly team who share your commitment to keeping children safe.
• Excellent professional development opportunities and career progression.
• A chance to work in a school where relationships matter, and where students are keen to learn and grow.
