Overview

We are seeking a Solicitor to join the Energy team at Shakespeare Martineau. The role offers a fast-moving environment within a highly regarded team delivering legal and regulatory advice and contract support to a range of energy sector clients.

What you will be doing

Drafting and negotiating a wide range of energy contracts
Advising on regulatory matters, including compliance with energy legislation, regulations, licences and codes
Advising on related procurement and subsidy control issues
Supporting and mentoring junior lawyers in the team
Actively participating in the team’s client care and business development activities

What you will need

3-6 years’ experience handling contracts and related legal matters, preferably in energy/regulatory work (though not essential)
Proven experience working in a team environment
Strong analytical skills with commercial acumen
Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines

Initiative and ability to cope in a fast-paced environment
Excellent organisational and prioritising skills
Desire to enhance client relationships through day-to-day activity
Ability to work effectively in a busy team
