We are currently recruiting for an experienced Residential Property Assistant to join an established and busy Law Firm within their Property Department based in Otley.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous residential conveyancing experience who is looking to join an experienced team and play a key role in supporting a dedicated Property Fee Earner.

The Role

This is a transactional support position, assisting a dedicated Fee Earner with delegated conveyancing tasks from initial file opening through to completion and post-completion.

You will be trusted to manage your own workload, undertake delegated tasks accurately and work with minimal supervision, while the supervising Fee Earner retains overall responsibility for each matter.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Opening new residential property files and matters
• Preparing fee estimates and initial client documentation
• Completing client identification and maintaining accurate electronic matter files
• Producing digital dictation promptly and accurately
• Preparing routine correspondence and legal documents using LEAP
• Ordering property searches
• Obtaining title documents and official copies from HM Land Registry
• Assisting with residential sales, purchases and remortgages
• Assisting with pre-completion and post-completion work
• Preparing and submitting SDLT returns and arranging payment where required
• Preparing and submitting post-completion HM Land Registry applications
• Maintaining accurate electronic and physical files
• Managing deeds and documents for secure storage
• Managing delegated tasks and prioritising your own workload
• Providing additional support to the wider Property Department when required

About You

We are looking for someone with previous legal experience within residential property or conveyancing who can hit the ground running.

You will ideally have:

• Previous residential conveyancing or property experience – essential
• The ability to undertake delegated conveyancing tasks accurately with minimal supervision
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills
• Strong attention to detail
• The ability to manage and prioritise your own workload
• Confident communication skills when dealing with clients, solicitors, estate agents, lenders and other professionals
• Strong IT skills, ideally including LEAP or another legal case management system
• A professional and client-focused approach
• The ability to work effectively within a busy and experienced property team

Location

The role is based at the firm's Otley office and is fully office-based.

As part of the firm's established recruitment policy, preference will be given to candidates who live in the Wharfe Valley or surrounding area, have a genuine connection to the area and understand the local property market.

This would particularly suit candidates living in or around Otley, Ilkley, Menston, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Guiseley, Pool-in-Wharfedale, Yeadon and the surrounding areas.

No specific academic qualifications are required; practical experience within residential property/conveyancing is essential. xwwtmva
