Headteacher, Independent Specialist School (Permanent), Derbyshire

The school supports young people with SEMH needs, most of whom have EHCPs. It opened recently and has passed its pre-registration inspection, with plans to grow. The new Headteacher will play a central part in shaping the school and leading it through its next stage of development.
The role
This is a hands-on headship in a trauma-informed, therapeutic setting, for a leader who enjoys being visible in school as well as setting direction. You will:
set the ethos and strategic vision of the school, and lead its improvement and growth
lead the curriculum and the quality of teaching and learning
lead safeguarding, pastoral care and SEND provision
ensure compliance with the Independent School Standards
work closely with clinical and residential colleagues, families and local authorities
You will have the backing of an experienced regional leadership team.
About you
QTS, with NPQH or equivalent
Leadership experience in a special school or complex setting
Strong knowledge of the Independent School Standards and of safeguarding
An understanding of residential children's homes
Experience of trauma-informed practice and SEMH
Experience of growing a school or provision would be an advantage
Terms
