Experienced Pig Stockperson

We're recruiting a Pig Stockperson to join an indoor/outdoor pig enterprise in West Yorkshire, LS22.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with commercial pig experience who wants to develop their skills and take on more responsibility; we'll also consider candidates with less experience but a with genuine interest in pig production and a willingness to learn.

The Role:

Working alongside an experienced team, you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of an 850-sow unit, taking the pigs through to 7-kilo weaners.

The unit operates a batch system, with dry sows indoors and farrowing outdoors.

You will be supported by an experienced team and given the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills. For the right person, there is also scope to take on additional responsibility and progress within the business.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain high standards, work as part of a team and always keep pig welfare at the heart of everything they do.

Person Specification:

• Commercial pig experience is preferred, but less experienced candidates are welcome to apply
• A genuine interest in pig production and animal welfare
• Good stockmanship and a willingness to learn
• Good attention to detail and a methodical approach
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team
• Good time-management and organisational skills
• A proactive attitude and willingness to develop
• High welfare standards and an ability to identify potential issues
• A desire to build a long-term career within the pig industry

Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 p/a DOE
