Role Overview
An excellent opportunity for an experienced, multi-skilled Welder Fabricator to join a busy engineering and fabrication business in Oldham. The work is varied: large projects can be predominantly TIG one month and predominantly MIG the next. The business is looking for an all-round engineer rather than a single-process welder. You will be a problem solver who can fabricate, weld and finish components to engineering drawings, with a strong focus on quality, accuracy and safe working practices.

Salary
£20.00 per hour (approx. £37,960 per year basic, plus overtime)

Working Hours

Monday–Thursday: 7:00am–3:00pm
Friday: 7:00am–12:30pm
36.5 hours per week
Overtime available at 1.5x
Sunday overtime at 2x

Key Requirements

Proven experience as a Welder Fabricator within fabrication, engineering or heavy manufacturing
Strong TIG welding skills, ideally on stainless steel and aluminium
Strong MIG welding skills, including multi-run welds
Experience of, or willingness to develop, root run MIG welding to full penetration
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Fabrication skills: marking out, preparation, measuring, grinding, drilling and finishing
Experience with press brakes or other fabrication machinery would be advantageous
Ability to safely use fabrication and lifting equipment where trained
Practical, problem-solving approach and the flexibility to turn your hand to a variety of tasks
Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team
Main Duties

TIG and MIG welding of fabricated components across a range of materials
Fabricating, aligning and tack-welding components to drawings and specifications
Setting up and safely operating welding and fabrication equipment
Carrying out preparation, grinding, drilling, polishing and finishing work
Measuring and checking components to ensure they meet required specifications
Maintaining high standards of quality, safety and housekeeping
Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview and complete a practical weld test.
