SEMH Teaching Assistant - Sleaford

Full-Time | Temporary to Permanent | TimePlan Education

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome challenges and reach their full potential?

TimePlan Education is seeking a dedicated, resilient and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Lincolnshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and helping them thrive in an educational setting.

You will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, providing tailored support to help them manage their emotions, develop positive behaviour and engage with learning. You will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.

The Role

Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
Support pupils with behaviour management, emotional regulation and positive social interactions.
Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and remain engaged in the classroom.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a consistent and supportive role model.
Implement behaviour strategies and follow individual support plans.
Work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff to promote positive outcomes.
Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and resilience.

The Ideal Candidate

Has a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
Is patient, resilient, empathetic and confident when managing challenging behaviour.
Has strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenging situations.
Is proactive, adaptable and committed to helping pupils achieve their potential.
Has previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs or behaviour challenges - this would be a huge advantage, although a positive attitude and the right approach are equally important.

Experience gained in schools, alternative provision, youth work, care settings or similar environments would be particularly beneficial.
