Job Summary

The post holder is a credible experienced clinical operational leader (Nurse or AHP) who will be expected to use their clinical knowledge to ensure effective, robust working relationships with senior management and clinical colleagues within and external to the Trust. Provide leadership for the day-to-day site management for the Clinical Group to ensure that utilisation of bed capacity is maximized to deliver safe, effective patient focused pathways to underpin delivery of quality and performance standards. The post holder will deliver the service in line with the Site Management Policy and other relevant polices/standards (i.e. infection control, repatriation policies). This will involve ensuring the escalation policy is followed, and establishing clear objectives, processes and focusing on all aspects of performance. The role will also lead business continuity responses in line with agreed EPPR standards for the clinical group should these need implementation.

Responsibilities

• Work with partners across clinical groups, wider MFT, and health and social care, in the development of strategy for management of capacity and patient flow pathways contributing to patient experience and delivery of operational standards.
• Lead staff to ensure that the site escalation policy is followed and declare escalation levels and actions as necessary.
• When demand for beds exceeds capacity, ensure policy is followed in order that Divisional Directors and Director of Operations are aware and agree actions.
• Participate and engage in Clinical Effectiveness reviews to support the work of the Trust in ensuring the Trust’s Health and Safety and Risk Management strategy is implemented at a local level.
• Exhibit open honest and transparent ways of working, fostering a supportive and caring culture.
• Be open, honest and transparent, by listening and responding to patient, family and staff concerns.
• Actively seek and utilise feedback from the patient experience surveys including annual National Patient Survey and Patient Experience Tracker to action improvements in all aspects of the patent’s journey.

Skills

• Registered Nurse or AHP educated to degree level with Masters level Qualification in health related subject or equivalent experience
• Experience of being able to manage complex situations and developing solutions which results in positive outcome
• Proven experience of and demonstrable achievement in managing health care services
• Evidence of planning and managing activity and demand including ensuring appropriate capacity in place
• Evidence of acute NHS experience
• Significant operational management experience within the NHS
• Evidence of managing transformation changes in complex environments
• Evidence of managing budgets
• Staff Management across various specialities
• Managing complex communication across numerous stakeholders.
• Demonstrate the capacity to quicky develop productive relationships
• Highly developed oral and written communication
• Ability to generate ideas and put them into practice
• Project Management skills
• Ability to assemble, interpret and present information to a wider audience
• Ability to prioritise and deliver on time against a background of changing demands
• Ability to analyse data and use to drive programmes of improvement
• Ability to influence and negotiate with others
• Ability to maintain calm rational decision making in high pressured situation / environment
• Ability to manage self and others to meet deadlines, even in pressured circumstances.
