Product Owner – Agile / SaaS – Cookstown

Are you a Product Owner (or a Business Analyst ready to step into product) who wants to shape a new product from the ground up, not just manage someone else’s backlog?

We’re working with an established, fast-growing software business in Cookstown. They’re growing at around 60% year on year and are still fully independently owned.

They’re building out a new product and need someone who can take customer needs, work out what could be built from them, and help give it direction. There’s real room here to make the role your own.

What you’ll be doing:

Taking customer and business requirements and turning them into clear product ideas, user stories and documentation

Working closely with the Customer Success and Implementation teams to understand customer priorities

Deciding what gets built next based on customer value and business impact

Working with the development team to bring ideas to life, with training and support on the technical side

Communicating and escalating clearly, so important work doesn’t quietly slip

Helping bring more structure to the product function as the team grows

This is an enterprise platform rather than a consumer app, so it’s about solving genuine operational problems properly rather than chasing a flashy front end.

What they’re looking for:

Experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, or a strong Business Analyst wanting to move into product ownership (earlier-career candidates with the right mindset will also be considered)

Strong business logic and an analytical mindset: you can work through a problem and see what a customer really needs

The ability to conceptualise a product from customer requirements

A basic grasp of technical concepts (for example APIs), with a willingness to learn more

Advantageous, not essential:

Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or event-driven architecture (training is provided)

Experience with system integrations, e-commerce platforms or ERP systems

Background in logistics, supply chain or similar

The kind of person who’ll do well here:

You enjoy working things out and getting to the heart of a customer’s problem

You communicate clearly enough to make sure the right things get prioritised, not just the loudest things

You’re not precious about your background: if you’ve done the job well as a BA, or you’re early in your product career, they want to hear from you

Why this is worth a look:

You’d be joining a multi-person product team at a fast-growing, independently owned company, working on a new product where you’ll have real autonomy and the chance to shape both the product and how the function works as it scales. The technical side can be learned; the right mindset is what they’re after.

If you’d like a role where you can help define a product from the start, this is worth a conversation
