Hire Desk Controller

We are seeking an organised and customer-focused Hire Desk Controller to join a busy and growing business. You will be responsible for managing hire enquiries, coordinating equipment availability, arranging deliveries and collections, and ensuring customers receive an efficient and professional service throughout the hire process.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage incoming hire enquiries via phone and email.
• Process hire orders, quotations and contracts.
• Coordinate equipment deliveries, collections and exchanges.
• Liaise with customers regarding availability, pricing and timescales.
• Schedule transport and maximise fleet utilisation.
• Maintain accurate hire records and system updates.
• Monitor on-hire equipment and off-hire dates.
• Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
• Resolve customer queries and issues promptly.
• Work closely with operations, workshop and transport teams.
• Assist with invoicing and contract administration.
• Identify opportunities to maximise revenue and utilisation.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and service standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience within Plant Hire, Tool Hire, Powered Access, Builders Merchants, Equipment Rental or a similar environment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

• Experience using Syrinx, InspHire or similar hire software.
• Knowledge of plant, tool or construction equipment.
• Logistics, scheduling or transport coordination experience.
