Key Account Manager - Technical Sales

Homebased, North (Sheffield area)
£50-60k based + 25% OTE Commission | Company Car | Excellent Benefits

Are you a proven B2B sales professional with a technical or engineering background, and a track record of winning new business and managing key accounts?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly successful global engineering business, investing in their sales function and focused on identifying, developing and securing new strategic accounts across the UK.

This is a genuinely new-business-focused position, where you’ll be responsible for opening doors with prospective customers, developing relationships with key decision-makers and turning opportunities into long-term commercial partnerships. You’ll be dealing with senior contacts across engineering, procurement, supply chain and management, so the ability to understand technical requirements and communicate commercially will be important.

The Role

You’ll have responsibility for developing your own territory and building a pipeline of prospective customers, with a particular focus on larger strategic opportunities.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Researching and targeting potential new customers within your territory
• Developing relationships with key contacts and creating opportunities from initial conversations
• Working with customers to understand their technical, operational and commercial requirements
• Presenting solutions and proposals that demonstrate clear value to the customer
• Taking opportunities through the sales process and negotiating successful outcomes
• Building strong relationships with customers once won, identifying opportunities to increase business over time
• Working towards agreed sales and revenue targets
• Keeping your pipeline and customer activity up to date through the CRM
• Working closely with internal technical and commercial teams to ensure customers receive the right solutions and support

What are we looking for?

This role would suit someone who combines technical understanding with strong commercial and sales ability.

You'll have:

• A successful track record in B2B sales and account management with the ability to clearly demonstrate experience of managing high potential client accounts, of large scale and complexity.
• Experience selling into engineering, manufacturing, automation or another technical environment
• The confidence to engage with senior stakeholders and build relationships at multiple levels within an organisation
• The ability to understand technical products or solutions and translate their benefits into commercial value
• A proactive, target-driven approach and genuine enthusiasm for developing new business
• An engineering or technical qualification would be advantageous
• A full UK driving licence

A current passport is also required due to occasional European and international travel.
