  • Support the procurement and management of subcontractors, including obtaining quotations and assessing costs.
  • Prepare interim valuations and applications for payment.
  • Assist with monthly cost-value reconciliations (CVRs), cost reporting and financial forecasting.
  • Monitor project expenditure against budgets and identify potential commercial risks.
  • Manage and record variations, additional works and changes to project scope.
  • Assist with subcontractor payments, valuations and account reconciliations.
  • Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Attend site meetings and commercial reviews with project teams, clients and subcontractors.
  • Work closely with Site Managers and operational teams to monitor progress and ensure costs are accurately captured.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
  • Assist with the measurement and valuation of groundworks packages, including drainage, roads, footpaths, foundations and service installations.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Trainee Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role within construction.
  • A background in groundworks, civil engineering or residential housing developments would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations and cost control.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with site teams and subcontractors.
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
  • A proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and progress within a commercial team.
  • Full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to multiple project sites across South Wales.

Qualifications

  • HNC, HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Candidates currently working towards a relevant qualification will be considered.
  • RICS or other relevant professional development ambitions would be advantageous.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work with established national housebuilders.
  • Varied workload across multiple residential groundworks developments.
  • Direct support and mentoring from an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor.
  • Practical experience across procurement, cost reporting, valuations and final accounts.
