Job Specification – Production Operator

Job Purpose

To manufacture and assemble cable sub-assemblies and components in accordance with customer drawings, technical specifications and written work instructions, ensuring all products meet the required quality standards and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble cable sub-assemblies using hand tools and crimping equipment.
• Carry out hand and machine crimping operations.
• Undertake mechanical assembly and cable preparation tasks.
• Cut cables and other materials to the required specifications.
• Perform basic component assembly in line with technical drawings and work instructions.
• Read, interpret and follow customer drawings and written instructions.
• Use basic measuring and testing equipment to verify product dimensions and quality.
• Ensure all work is completed accurately and in accordance with quality standards and production procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Follow all relevant health and safety procedures.

Skills and Experience Required

• Previous experience using hand and/or machine crimping equipment.
• Experience in wiring and cable assembly.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and written work instructions.
• Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Ability to work accurately and consistently to defined specifications.
• A methodical approach to work, with a focus on quality and safety.

Desirable Skills

• Soldering experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Experience using basic measuring and testing equipment.

Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality cable assemblies and components in line with customer requirements, technical drawings and established production procedures
