Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Engineer

Location: Tuxford, Nottinghamshire
Salary: £50,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off, 12-hour rotating days and nights

The Role

We are recruiting a Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Engineer to join an established recycling manufacturer based in Tuxford.

This is a hands-on engineering role involving the maintenance, repair and fault-finding of industrial plant and machinery. You will play a key part in keeping production running efficiently, minimising downtime and ensuring equipment operates safely.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and repair or replace defective components.
• Maintain industrial machinery and plant equipment to maximise reliability.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
• Complete maintenance records and follow health and safety procedures.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
• Experience in manufacturing, recycling or heavy industry would be advantageous.
• A proactive approach to maintenance, safety and problem-solving.
• Relevant engineering qualifications or a time-served apprenticeship would be beneficial.
