About the Role

Philosophy Education is recruiting an experienced and dedicated Behaviour Mentor / Pastoral Support Officer to join a secondary school in Welling, Bexley, starting after the October half-term.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people, managing challenging behaviour and making a positive difference to students' educational experiences.

The school is looking for a confident, proactive and resilient individual who can build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Provide pastoral and behavioural support to students across KS3 and KS4.
Work closely with the school's behaviour and pastoral teams to manage challenging behaviour.
Deliver 1:1 and small-group mentoring sessions to students requiring additional support.
Support students with emotional regulation, social development and engagement in learning.
Respond to behavioural incidents and help de-escalate challenging situations.
Support students with attendance, punctuality and reintegration into lessons.
Liaise with teachers, Heads of Year, parents and external professionals where appropriate.
Maintain accurate records of behaviour incidents, interventions and student progress.The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience working in a secondary school in a behaviour, pastoral, mentoring or student support role.
Confident managing challenging behaviour and supporting students with SEMH needs.
Strong communication, relationship-building and de-escalation skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a wider pastoral team.
Calm, patient and resilient, with a consistent approach to behaviour management.
An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is highly desirable.Experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Pastoral Officer, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker or within an alternative provision or PRU would be particularly relevant.
