National Business Development Manager - International Freight Forwarding

Location: Berkshire | Hybrid / Field-Based with National Travel

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 DOE + Bonus + Car Allowance

Are you an experienced Business Development Manager with a background in international freight forwarding? Do you enjoy winning new business, developing long-term customer relationships and having the autonomy to manage your own sales activity?

I'm working with a well-established, global freight forwarding and logistics business looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager to support continued growth across the UK.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an international organisation with an established UK presence, offering the opportunity to develop new business nationally while working closely with an experienced sales team and regional branches.

The role has a national remit, with a hybrid/field-based working arrangement and an office base close to Heathrow Airport. You'll need to be comfortable travelling across the UK to meet customers, identify opportunities and develop business.

The Role

Reporting into the senior sales leadership team, you'll take responsibility for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities across the UK, while building and maintaining strong relationships with customers.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Proactively identifying and securing new business opportunities within international freight forwarding.
• Developing and managing a strong pipeline of prospective customers.
• Building long-term commercial relationships with new and existing clients.
• Working closely with regional branches and operational teams to develop customer opportunities.
• Understanding customer requirements and presenting tailored freight forwarding and logistics solutions.
• Negotiating commercial agreements and contributing to sales strategies.
• Monitoring sales performance, maintaining accurate records and reporting on activity and results.
• Representing the business professionally at customer meetings and industry events.

About You

We're looking for an established sales professional with a strong commercial mindset, excellent relationship-building skills and a proven ability to develop new business.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Proven business development or sales experience within international freight forwarding.
• A good understanding of air and/or sea freight, import/export processes and international logistics.
• A successful track record of generating leads, winning new customers and developing profitable business.
• Strong commercial awareness, negotiation and communication skills.
• The ability to build lasting relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach with the confidence to work independently.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a national sales territory.
• Willingness to travel nationally, with access to the Heathrow-area office as required.
