Talent Media is recruiting for a well-established, growing precision engineering company based in Coatbridge.

As the business continues to grow, our client is looking for skilled CNC millers and turners with Mazak and/or Fanuc experience. This opportunity suits someone who can operate CNC machinery independently with minimal supervision, although higher rates are available for experienced machinists who can programme, set up, and operate.

We also encourage experienced chargehands and multi-disciplined machinists to apply.

The role

  • Set and operate CNC milling or turning machinery safely and efficiently
  • Produce high-quality precision components from engineering drawings
  • Load programmes, select tooling, set offsets and make adjustments
  • Programme CNC machinery where required and within your experience
  • Complete in-process inspections using appropriate measuring equipment
  • Identify and resolve machining, tooling and quality issues
  • Maintain high standards of quality, traceability, housekeeping and safety
  • Work closely with production, engineering and quality colleagues

What we’re looking for

  • Previous CNC milling or turning experience
  • Mazak and/or Fanuc experience
  • Ability to operate CNC machinery independently with little supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience working accurately to tight tolerances
  • Knowledge of tooling, workholding, offsets and machining processes
  • A reliable, safety-conscious and quality-focused approach
  • Programming experience is particularly desirable for the higher-paid positions

Previous Chargehand, supervisory, or team-support experience is advantageous, but we also welcome applications from technically strong machinists ready to take the next step.

Pay structure

  • Level 1 CNC Operator: £19.15 per hour

Able to operate a CNC machine independently with little supervision. This is not a trainee rate.

  • Experienced CNC Operator: £21.25 per hour
  • Chargehand: £22.30 per hour, including the £1.05 Chargehand allowance

The final rate will depend on your machinery, control-system, and programming experience.

Each working day includes a 30-minute unpaid break. We may also consider flexible or part-time arrangements where they meet the needs of the role.

Additional earning potential

  • Night-shift hours receive a 30% uplift on the basic hourly rate for up to 39 hours
  • Authorised overtime is paid at time and a half
  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday shifts are currently paid at double time as a temporary arrangement, subject to business requirements
  • Overtime opportunities may be available but are not guaranteed

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing Scottish engineering business, work on complex precision components and develop your career within a highly skilled manufacturing environment.
