We're looking for a passionate, resilient, and dedicated Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Teacher to join a supportive educational setting in Wrexham.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher who understands the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and is confident using trauma-informed approaches to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

As an ALN Teacher, you will:

Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons tailored to learners with additional learning needs.

Use trauma-informed teaching strategies to support pupils who have experienced adversity.

Build positive, trusting relationships with learners, creating a safe and supportive classroom environment.

Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, promoting emotional regulation and resilience.

Develop and implement individualised learning strategies that recognise each pupil's strengths and challenges.

Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, ALNCOs, parents, and external professionals.

Monitor pupil progress, celebrating achievements and adapting teaching approaches to support individual development.

Maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment where every pupil feels valued and understood.

What We're Looking For

We're searching for someone who:

Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Has previous experience teaching pupils with Additional Learning Needs.

Has a strong understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their impact on learning, behaviour, and emotional development.

Is experienced in implementing trauma-informed teaching practices.

Demonstrates patience, empathy, resilience, and excellent behaviour management skills.

Can adapt teaching methods to meet a wide range of individual learning needs.

Has experience working in ALN schools, specialist provisions, or alternative education settings (highly desirable).

Holds an Enhanced DBS certificate or is willing to apply for one.

Is registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) or willing to complete registration.
