Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Friday

We are recruiting for an experienced Accounts Payable Assistant to join a large and well-established civil engineering contractor based at Eurocentral, Motherwell.

This is an excellent permanent opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking to join a busy and fast-paced accounts team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounts payable and previous payroll experience.

The Role

As Accounts Payable Assistant, you will support the day-to-day running of the purchase ledger and wider finance function, ensuring supplier invoices, payments and payroll-related information are processed accurately and efficiently.

Key responsibilities will include:

Processing high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and on time

Matching invoices against purchase orders and resolving discrepancies

Preparing and processing supplier payment runs

Reconciling supplier statements and investigating outstanding items

Responding to supplier and internal payment queries

Setting up and maintaining supplier accounts

Assisting with month-end accounts payable processes

Supporting payroll processing and administration

Checking payroll information, timesheets and associated documentation

Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring appropriate approvals are in place

Liaising with colleagues, suppliers and operational teams across the business

Providing general support to the wider finance team as required

About You

To be considered for this role, you should have:

Previous experience within an Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger position

Previous payroll experience

Strong numerical and reconciliation skills

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and finance/accounting systems

The ability to manage a busy workload and meet deadlines

Strong communication and organisational skills

A proactive and professional approach to your work

Experience within construction, civil engineering or a similar fast-paced contracting environment would be advantageous, although not essential.
