Aspire People are currently recruiting for an experienced Attendance Officer to join a welcoming secondary school in Bury, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced attendance professional looking for a long-term role, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working as an Attendance Officer within an educational setting, ideally within a secondary school environment. You will play a key role in monitoring and improving attendance, working closely with pupils, parents/carers, teaching staff and the wider pastoral team.

The Role

• Monitor and track pupil attendance and punctuality.
• Follow up on unexplained and persistent absences.
• Contact parents/carers regarding attendance concerns.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure information is updated promptly.
• Work closely with pastoral staff and senior leaders to identify and address attendance issues.
• Support the school in improving overall attendance and reducing persistent absence.
• Assist with attendance-related meetings, interventions and reporting.
• Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

• Have previous experience working as an Attendance Officer.
• Have worked within an educational setting, ideally a secondary school.
• Have a strong understanding of attendance procedures and safeguarding.
• Are confident communicating with pupils, parents/carers and school staff.
• Are organised, reliable and able to manage sensitive information professionally.
• Can start ASAP.
• Are looking for a long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent.

Requirements

• A DBS registered on the Update Service is required.
• References covering the last 2 years of employment/education are required.
• Previous experience in an attendance-focused role within a school or educational setting is essential.
