Facilities Manager

We are looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to lead a council's Facilities Management service, providing leadership and operational oversight of the estate so that buildings are safe, compliant, efficient and sustainable.

Job type: Temporary, initially until the 31st of December

Location: Newton Abbot, TQ12 4XX

Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00

Rate: £22.91/h PAYE

Key responsibilities

Lead, mentor and develop a team of facilities staff
Develop and deliver an FM strategy aligned with organisational objectives
Manage delegated budgets and external contracts, ensuring value for money
Oversee hard FM (plumbing, electrical, mechanical, heat pumps, EV charging, fire safety, lifts, solar, CCTV) and soft FM (cleaning, grounds, reception, security, porters)
Manage risk, health and safety, and sustainability initiatives
Use data to report on space efficiency, compliance and running costsEssential

Significant proven experience in facilities management
Experience of managing staff, budgets and financial planning
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and building services
Understanding of sustainability and carbon reduction
Level 4 FM qualification (IWFM or equivalent) and a management qualification such as ILM Level 4, or a willingness to work towards them
Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
Driving licenceDesirable

Experience in energy management and contract negotiation
