Principal Education is recruiting an SEN Teacher for a primary SEMH special school in Hayes, Hillingdon. The school supports children aged 3 to 11 with social, emotional and mental health needs, and at its latest Ofsted inspection it was rated Outstanding in every single area: quality of education, behaviour, personal development and leadership. That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because the adults here get relationships, routine and high expectations right, every day.
It's a small school, so you won't be a name on a rota. You'll know every child, every family and every colleague, and they'll know you.
The role
You'll lead a small class of primary aged children who need a teacher who stays calm, stays consistent and doesn't give up on them.
Plan and teach engaging, personalised lessons across the primary curriculum
Build trust with children who have experienced trauma or disrupted schooling
Use clear routines and positive behaviour support to help children regulate and feel safe
Work alongside your class team, leaders and therapists on each child's EHCP outcomes
Bring parents and carers with you and celebrate progress together
Notice the breakthroughs, however small, and build on them
What you MUST demonstrate
QTS or QTLS
Experience teaching children with SEMH needs, whether in a special school, AP, PRU, resource base or mainstream
Calm, confident and relational behaviour management
Strong primary curriculum knowledge
Full time availability, Monday to Friday
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
Two professional references and the right to work in the UK
Pay and benefits
Paid to scale on the Outer London pay scale, MPS to UPS depending on experience, paid weekly
Teach in a school rated Outstanding across the board and learn from leaders at the top of SEMH practice
Small school, small classes and a team that has your back
Long term role, so you build real relationships with your class
A route into a permanent position for the right teacher
A consultant who meets every candidate personally and actually picks up the phone
