We are currently working with a well-established consultancy that is looking to appoint an experienced CDM Principal Designer to join their London team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to work on a varied portfolio of high-profile projects, with a particular focus on heritage, conservation and public sector work.

The Role

As a CDM Principal Designer, you will be responsible for providing CDM and health and safety advice throughout the design and construction process. You will work closely with clients, designers and contractors to ensure CDM 2015 requirements are effectively managed across a range of projects.

• Reviewing designs and identifying potential health and safety risks
• Coordinating and managing pre-construction information
• Attending design and project meetings
• Supporting clients and project teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Managing your own portfolio of projects
• Building strong relationships with clients, designers and other project stakeholders

Projects

The consultancy has a strong portfolio of heritage and conservation projects, alongside a range of public and private sector work.

Projects can include historic and listed buildings, government schemes and other high-profile developments, providing the opportunity to work on projects that are more varied and technically interesting than a typical consultancy portfolio.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a CDM Principal Designer
• Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 and associated legislation
• Experience working with clients, architects, contractors and wider design teams
• The ability to manage projects independently
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• A proactive and commercially aware approach
• Experience working on heritage, public sector or complex projects would be advantageous

The Package

• Salary up to £70,000
• London-based
• Hybrid and flexible working
• Flexible working hours
• Genuine flexibility around childcare and other personal commitments
• Varied portfolio of high-profile projects
• Supportive and collaborative working environment

The company is particularly open to discussing flexible working arrangements around childcare, including changes to start and finish times where required. The focus is on delivering the work effectively rather than expecting everyone to work a rigid 9–5 pattern.
