Service Operations Director

Take the Board seat. Lead a profitable, growing Service division.
Our client is a growing, ambitious business with a great reputation. They are looking for a Service Operations Director to lead a profitable Service division that is growing year on year, and they need a strong figurehead to take it to the next level.
This is a Board-level position reporting to the Managing Director, where you can come in and make a real difference.
The role
You'll lead a growing Service division with a good reputation and a renewal rate of over 80%. You'll manage approximately 40 field engineers, with the 4 Team Leaders set to report directly into you, alongside a Service Manager and an experienced office-based team.
You'll have full P&L responsibility, with input into pricing, price negotiations and operational costs. The Board sets the annual budgets, and control of the budget sits with you.
Your key priorities will be:

• Improving engineer utilisation, scheduling and travel time
• Reducing re-calls
• Bringing in new systems, with the business fully bought into AI and system development
• Leading the next phase of growth. The division is very strong in the North West and has expanded into Yorkshire and the North Midlands, with the Midlands next

About you
You are a senior leader from a service, maintenance or field-based engineering environment, ideally within a larger organisation. Experience in the building products, access or security sectors would be ideal, but we'll also consider strong candidates from comparable sectors such as FM, HVAC, lifts and fire.
You have managed both an office and a team of engineers. You bring a professional, polished approach to leadership and can act as a strong figurehead for the division.
You will also need:

• Strong commercial awareness, including responsibility for budgets and profitability
• Experience managing teams through managers or team leaders
• Experience developing and implementing operational or service strategy
• A proven ability to use systems and data to improve performance
• The ability to contribute effectively at Board level
• A full UK driving licence

Experience managing service contracts with defined SLAs and KPIs, leading geographical growth or using Simpro would be advantageous.
