Post 16 Tutor

I hope you are well.

We are seeking a Tutor to support an 18-year-old male with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), significant communication needs, sensory differences and learning difficulties. He has attended specialist provisions throughout his education and would benefit from a patient, adaptable tutor who is confident supporting learners with additional needs.

Provision Details
Location: SN10 area
Delivery: 1:1, face-to-face
Preferred Setting: Away from the family home where possible
Subjects: Functional Skills English, Functional Skills Maths, Potentially History and Geography
Additional Support: SEMH support, mentoring and independence skills development

About T

T has a strong interest in History and Geography and would enjoy opportunities to explore these subjects alongside his core English and Maths learning, this however is not mandatory.

• Difficulty managing change, transitions and unfamiliar situations
• Requiring 1:1 support for both engagement and safety due to potential flight risk when distressed

T can find social interactions challenging and benefits from working with familiar, trusted adults. He may communicate distress indirectly through withdrawal, noises, becoming frustrated, or asking others to "go away."

• Breaking tasks into manageable steps
• Giving additional processing time
• Supporting emotional regulation and confidence building
• Developing functional communication skills
• Encouraging independence and life skills development
• Supporting social communication in a safe and structured way
