Roofing Estimator

We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Roofing Estimator to join a well-established and growing roofing contractor delivering commercial and domestic projects across Hampshire and Dorset.
This is an excellent permanent opportunity for an estimator with a strong understanding of the roofing industry who can confidently take ownership of enquiries and tender returns, from the initial site visit through to submission and handover to our delivery team.
This is an opportunity to work directly with the Director and Contracts Manager, with the freedom to help shape the role as the business grows.
The role will include:

Manage the sales inbox, assess new enquiries and maintain a clear tender schedule.

Attend site surveys, take measurements and establish the scope of works.

Review drawings, specifications and bills of quantities to prepare accurate estimates.

Price labour, materials, plant, access requirements and subcontract works.

Build relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to secure competitive, accurate material rates.

Prepare professional quotations and tender submissions, clearly identifying exclusions, assumptions and project risks.

Liaise with clients, surveyors and main contractors to resolve queries and follow up submissions.

Work with the Director to agree margins and commercial terms before submission.

Hand over secured projects to the Contracts Manager with clear budgets, scope and supporting information.

Maintain pricing records and use feedback from completed projects to improve future estimates.
We’re looking for someone with:

Experience estimating roofing projects, ideally across both pitched and flat roofing.

A sound understanding of roofing systems, construction methods and material specifications.

Confidence reading drawings, measuring quantities and preparing detailed cost breakdowns.

Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify missing information and potential costs.

Good organisation, clear communication and the ability to manage several tenders at once.

Confidence using Excel and digital estimating tools.

A full UK driving licence for site visits.
Experience with commercial refurbishment projects, liquid waterproofing and built-up felt systems would be an advantage.
